Eddie Star grew up in a rock-n-roll dream of Hollywood smoke and California sunshine, and while still a teenager, began to make that dream a reality when he started working with session musician/producer Arthur G. Wright (The Righteous Bros, Billy Preston). He formed and led two bands, Eddie Star & The Zero Effect and JoyBox, releasing the albums Generation Zero, Informal Deviance (13 Sexational Songs), and Live From Hollywood. His music provided the foundation for Philip Paul Kelly‘s successful Off-Broadway Rock-n-Roll Spectacle, “Rockquiem For A Wrestler,” in which he performed. The Original Cast Recording is available now to stream and on CD.
Eddie Star remains a dynamic force across entertainment and culture. His podcast, “The College of Rock-n-Roll Knowledge,” takes listeners through his stories in the world of Rock-n-Roll and features interviews with musicians, music industry types, and cultural figures.
Fiercely independent, Star founded Ton-Up Records in 2009, whose roster includes Blood on the Saddle, Greg Davis, Philip Paul Kelly, and the solo catalog of 60s legend Dean Ford(The Marmalade), and is a thriving independent enterprise producing music, film, and new media. Eddie Star continues performing and recording, recently releasing a single, “Science Fiction/Double Feature,” and a music video streaming everywhere. Perhaps the following quote best sums him up: “Eddie Star has never wavered in his absolute belief in rock-n-roll. In a post-post-post-punk era, he is steadfast, sticking to his guns and writing unapologetic, fearless punk songs that would make his heroes proud.”
